The 4:1 transfer case of the Rubicons
Rock-Trac is what separates a Wrangler Rubicon from a regular Wrangler: a transfer case with a 4:1 low range, nearly twice as short as Command-Trac, built to crawl over rock at a snail's pace with total control.
Why 4:1 matters
A transfer case's low range multiplies torque and divides speed in low gear. The regular Command-Trac offers 2.72:1; the Rock-Trac NV241OR reaches 4.0:1. Combined with first gear and 4.10 axles, it gives a huge total crawl ratio: the Jeep moves at walking pace, without touching the throttle or abusing the clutch —exactly what you need to climb rocks.
Rock-Trac debuted on the TJ Rubicon in 2003 and carried on in the JK Rubicon. It's the natural partner to those versions' Dana 44 axles with Tru-Lok lockers.
